THE Archdales 73 title bid gathered yet more momentum as they moved back to the top of Midland Combination Division One after putting four past Newhall.

Dales were fortunate not to find themselves behind after Newhall had the better of the opening exchanges, forcing keeper Dean Smith to save at his near post.

On 42 minutes, new signing Gary Price opened the scoring, coolly sliding the ball under the keeper from Rik Halion’s through-ball.

Price scored his second after volleying home Lee Seldon’s cross before Ashley Banner’s exquisite touch set up the same player to complete his hat-trick.

Scott Finnigan struck a shot from the edge of the area and nearly repeated his effort minutes later only to see it deflect past the post.

The result means Dales leapfrog Stockingford, who were not in league action, into top position.
