EVESHAM United’s players have been told to get their act together as they head to Didcot Town on Saturday (3pm) looking to get the season back on track.
The Robins have drawn their last four Zamaretto League Premier Division matches 0-0 and are out of both the FA Cup and FA Trophy.
Manager Paul West was livid after watching his team crash out of the Trophy in Tuesday night’s second qualifying round replay against Northwood.
The 2-1 home defeat cost United a shot at Basingstoke Town in the next round and left them to pick up the pieces of their season.
Although they travel to Oxfordshire unbeaten in the league since August 29, recent results and performances have not gone down well with the boss.
West said: “It’s not acceptable. It’s up to the players now to repay the faith I have shown in them.
“I’m looking for a few characters now and for people to stand up and be counted.
“The Trophy defeat gave me food for thought. Things are not quite right at the moment but I’m determined to put that right.
“I will be watching things closely and want my players to offer a response on Saturday.
“The Trophy was a competition for us to progress in but my players have taken it lightly and paid the ultimate price.
“We were beaten by a side who wanted it more. We’ve now gone out with a whimper in both the FA Cup and Trophy.”
Skipper Steve Lutz is back for the Didcot trip after missing the Northwood defeat due to work commitments.
West added: “Our current league position speaks for itself — we have struggled this year. I can’t ignore the start of the season we had.
“We’ve had problems with discipline and with the number of bookings we’ve had.”
