TEENAGER Lauren Honey is following her father’s footsteps by becoming a darts star.
Lauren, daughter of world number 64 Dave Honey, is currently rewriting the history books in the Droitwich League.
The 13-year-old, who is the youngest competitor in the predominantly male league, has won her first two games of the new season and became the first player to hit a maximum 180.
Lauren is part of a mixed team from the Star and Garter in the High Street and often practises with some of the world’s best throwers at tournaments around the country.
Dave said: “She has been playing darts for four to five years and has played against Terry Jenkins, Andy Smith and Wayne Jones so has practised with a lot of the top Professional Darts Corporation guys.
“She started practising while we were at a tournament in Scotland. She borrowed (world number three) James Wade’s darts and had a go with them.”
Lauren said: “I am just happy to be playing darts at the moment, it’s something I enjoy.”
