WORCESTER kept up their 100 per cent record in the Midlands Women’s Hockey League Premier Division.

The city club head the table with six straight victories and are still yet to concede a goal after winning 2-0 at Towcester.

Worcester saved their best hockey for the away clash with Hattie Lloyd voted player-of-the-match for her tireless running.

Helen Barnes, Helen Reeves and Lloyd threatened down the right, while the defence did not concede a penalty corner all game.

Sade Gerald was one of two tactical changes at half-time and she was brought down for a penalty stroke.

It was converted by Emma Hughes six minutes into the second period.

Elaine Shepperd finished Towcester off with a reverse-stick finish just before the end to complete a comfortable win.

Worcester Seconds lost their focus in a 3-1 home defeat to Harborne Seconds in Worcestershire League Division One.

Creative play from Becky Donnelly, Emily Swinswood, Chloe Stansbridge and Sarah Medcalf eventually led to Lucy Merrett giving Worcester the lead.

But Worcester were caught resting on their laurels and Harborne drew level just before the break.

There were chances at both ends in the second period with home keeper Liz Furber impressing only for Worcester to concede two quick goals.

The thirds failed to beat nine-player King’s Heath Pickwick Seconds, drawing 0-0 at Nunnery Wood.

Worcester commanded much of the game and their goalkeeper did not have to touch the ball once.

But the hosts were unable to break the deadlock with the Heath keeper in fine form.

Worcester Men’s Firsts lost their BodyKraft Midlands Division One 100 per cent record in dramatic fashion, crashing 8-1 at fellow high-fliers Burton.

The fourths went down 5-2 at home to West Bridgford Fourths in the Central League Midlands Premier Division.

Worcester are still seeking their first points of the season after a much-changed line-up struggled against well-organised opposition.

The hosts conceded twice in the first 20 minutes and, although veteran sweeper Andy Howie scored following a short corner, they went into the break 3-1 down.

The visitors added two more to their total in the second-half before skipper Andy Hadley scored a second Worcester goal late on.

Worcester Badgers Pippins saw off Stourport 3-1 with Ben Cooke firing them ahead from Paddy Milton’s cross.

Stourport equalised but Milton scrambled the city side ahead just before half-time and Cooke added his second goal later on.

Daniel Ferrier bagged four goals as Worcester Badgers Potters beat Bournville 7-1.

Bournville scored a consolation but Worcester sealed the win through new signing Archie Sale (2) and Tom Massingham.
