EVESHAM were unlucky to come away from Wolverhampton with a 3-2 loss in the BodyKraft Men’s Hockey League West Midlands Premier Division.
Goals from Matt Baumber and Matt Russell were not enough in their narrow defeat in the Black Country. Meanwhile, Pershore’s poor West Midlands Division Two form continued with a 4-1 beating at Rugeley who earned their first points of the season.
The visitors were 3-0 down at half-time after struggling to retain the ball.
Their hopes of turning things around in the second-half evaporated with another Rugeley strike.
But Jamie Hughes grabbed a consolation as the efforts of Graeme Rushin, Joe Taylor and Graeme Handley were highlights in an otherwise shambolic display.
Droitwich Seconds drew 2-2 for the second week in a row, this time against Leamington in West Midlands Division One.
The hosts started brightly and took the lead when Barry Williams showed great composure to score.
But familiar mistakes crept back into their game and Leamington led at half-time through two goals from short corners.
Player-of-the-match Lee Wakelam and midfielder Steve Farr impressed in the second period as Droitwich conjured an equaliser.
Rob Brewer played a great ball into the box for Nick Bates to level.
A second-half strike from Karen Robinson gave Badsey a 1-0 win at Harborne Thirds in Worcestershire Women’s League Division One.
Amy Trotman was player-of-the-match after stamping her mark on the game along with fellow midfielders Karen Moore and Laura Moore.
Robinson broke the deadlock in the second period.
