FORMER England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is set to make an appearance at Malvern Town Football Club tomorrow night, according to Notts County.
The 61-year-old Swede is due to visit Langland Stadium for the FA Youth Cup first round proper tie between Malvern and the Meadow Lane outfit (7.30), where he is now the high-profile director of football.
Eriksson has managed Manchester City and the Mexican national team since leaving England.
Malvern have only reached this stage of the competition once before in the club’s history, losing 3-0 away to Notts County in 2003.
Town youth manager Chris Smith said: “There is an understandable difference in standards between the West Midlands Floodlit Youth League and a Football Lea-gue academy but we acquitted ourselves well on that occasion and weren’t disgraced.
“I’m certainly hoping for a good showing as the squad is possibly the strongest we have had in my time here.”
Town have won four away games so far in the competition, starting with a 4-3 extra-time preliminary round victory at Nuneaton Town. They won 4-2 at Gornal Athletic in the first qualifying round and followed that with a 5-3 win at Bromsgrove, again after extra-time, and 4-3 success at Mickleover Sports.
Smith added: “There is no doubting the talent and ability in the squad, most of the lads have been at a league club at some time so feel they have something to prove and there will be no better stage than tomorrow night.”
