DEFENDER Kevin Spencer is convinced Worcester City will return to winning ways against Welling United on Saturday.
City crashed 4-1 at Eastleigh last weekend, bringing an end to a three-match unbeaten sequence in Blue Square South following wins over Dover Athletic and Weston-super-Mare and a draw at Hampton and Richmond.
The right-back, who can also play at centre-half, admitted City were shocked by the scoreline in Hampshire but does not expect the big defeat to have a long-term effect on the team.
Spencer reckons the setback at the Silverlake Stadium was a blip and expects the team to bounce back against Welling as they look to record their fourth home victory of the season.
“I just think it was a bad day at the office,” he said.
“We were all buzzing on the way down, the coach was lively and it was a shock really because, after beating Weston 4-1 and with the form we have been in, we didn’t expect to get beaten by that result.
“I honestly think it’s a blip because of the way we’ve been playing lately and the way that we’ve bonded together.
“We’re a great team with great players and I can’t see it being long before we win again.”
