BROMSGROVE ground out a gritty 25-16 National Three Midlands success at Kettering.
Kettering centre Joe Newman scored by the posts and John Penberthy kicked the conversion.
After 25 minutes, the Boars replied with a Warren Oliver try, converted by Ben Copson.
Penberthy kept his side in touch throughout the game with a series of successful penalties, but tries from Nigel Burrows and Drew Harper kept Bromsgrove in front.
Harper then became the first of three visiting players to be yellow-carded, while a Kettering player was also sin-binned.
Two more Copson penalties ensured Bromsgrove held on for a hard-fought victory.
