HEREFORD United are currently awaiting the report from the archaeological dig that took place in the Blackfriars End.
Two trenches were dug in the flat area of the Blackfriars terrace, with the archaeologists working throughout last week.
The dig has now been completed and the Bulls are awaiting a final report from the experts.
The dig was required in order to ensure there were no significant finds beneath the Blackfriars End — once that has been confirmed, Hereford can move a step closer to submitting plans for the development of the stand.
The Edgar Street outfit have been forced into redeveloping that part of the ground after it failed a health and safety inspection in the summer.
Hereford had to reduce the capacity of the Blackfriars End by half following the inspection.
Bulls chairman Graham Turner said: “We’re obviously hoping that nothing will be found and there won’t be any hold-ups in the way of progressing the redevelopment.
“In order to apply for planning we’ve needed the bat certificate to say there are no bats present.
“We also need the archaeological dig to ensure there are no ruins there.
“Now the dig is completed, we need to firm up the agreement with Richardson Developers (who own the lease) over the ground then we can submit our planning applications.”
