KIDDERMINSTER Harriers boss Mark Yates is keeping his players guessing on whether they can have next weekend off or not.
Following their exit from the FA Cup and not being able to rearrange a Blue Square Premier match, the Aggborough side are without a game. However, Yates has not automatically given his squad a free pass for a rest.
“It’s a weekend where the lads haven’t got a game, but whether they’re off is another matter,” he said.
“We’ve contacted a couple of clubs, but they haven’t been agreeable, so we’re stuck with a free weekend. We’ve done all we can to get something on but there’s nothing we can do about it.”
Harriers were one of 10 Blue Square Premier clubs to exit the FA Cup in this past week.
The Aggborough side were joined by Eastbourne Borough, Chester City, Crawley Town, Ebbsfleet United, Hayes and Yeading, Histon, Tamworth, Grays Athletic and Altrincham in the teams who were knocked out in the fourth qualifying round.
With the first round proper being played next Saturday, there are no scheduled Blue Square Premier matches.
Yates, whose squad is thin due to suspensions, will have to wait a fortnight before he can get his players back on the field after today’s clash with Cambridge United (3pm).
