HEREFORD United host basement boys Darlington tomorrow looking to continue their prowess at Edgar Street (3pm).

The Bulls have picked up 12 of their 15 points this season on home soil and success against Steve Staunton’s strugglers would be their fourth Coca-Cola League Two win of the campaign.

Accrington Stanley, Bournemouth and Chesterfield have all been despatched at headquarters and John Trewick’s men will be keen to inflict more misery on the Quakers.

Darlington have won just once in the league this season and they earned their last away point at fellow strugglers Grimsby on September 26.

Manager Trewick knows the match represents the chance for United to get back to winning ways following last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Bradford but is aware of the pitfalls associated with such fixtures.

He said: “The home form has been good and we have got to make sure it stays like that.

“We can only look to the future and it’s important to continue that run against Darlington.

“It’s important for any side to have a good home record and make life difficult for visiting teams but it’s also nice to get points on your travels. I don’t think there is much difference between the teams at the top and bottom of the table.

“We must not treat anybody lightly and all we have to do is keep our own house in order.

“We have got to be looking to win as they are not at the bottom of the league for nothing.

“There are reasons for that so it’s an opportunity for us but it won’t just happen.

“We have to make sure we concentrate on our own game and do the right things.”

Midfielder Marc Pugh, the club’s top-scorer with six goals, is set to return to the fold after shaking off a calf problem.

Defenders Darren Jones and Darren Dennehy (both ankle) have been cleared to feature.

Craig King is set to take the place of James Walker up front following the striker’s return to Southend United after a one-month loan spell.

Forward King, who has extended his stay at Hereford from Leicester City until the end of the season, has been playing in midfield but Trewick is keen to return him to his favoured position.

However, full-back Ryan Green has been laid low by illness and is a doubt for the weekend.

The Bulls boss added: “I certainly see Craig King as a forward so I think he will appreciate the move back up there.”

Midfielder Glen Southam has joined Blue Square South side Bishop’s Stortford.

Dennehy has been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under 21s squad next month and will miss the Bulls’ trip to Barnet on November 14.
