FRUSTRATED Malvern director of rugby Dave Robins has called on his young side to “step up to the plate” when they host Luton tomorrow (3pm).

Robins claims more confidence and belief will lead to up upturn in his young side’s fortunes following a disappointing 23-15 National Three Midlands defeat at Peterborough. With only two wins in their first eight league games, the Spring Lane side’s chief has called for his charges to improve.

Robins said: “The problem is confidence. We are capable of playing some good rugby.

“We know the players are young but it’s just a question of believing in themselves.

“Luton are a tough nut to crack. They have a good set of backs who often get among the points.”

Malvern give a first start to former Birmingham and Solihull and Stourbridge winger James Aston.
