STOURPORT Swifts will be without striker Wes Joyce until the end of November after he was sent off in a Sunday league match.

Joyce was shown a red card for violent conduct playing for Martley Spurs against Warndon Athletic in the Worcester and District Sunday League Premier Division.

He has been slapped with a 35-day ban by the Worcestershire Football Association which covers all games, meaning he will miss the next seven league matches for Swifts.

With Joyce unavailable until Sunday, November 29, manager Neil Hunt will have to reconsider his options in attack.

But Swifts have scored six goals in their last two matches and host Atherstone Town in Zamaretto League Division One Midlands on Saturday (3pm).

Jamie Insall and former Worcester City striker Dan Polan were on target as the Walshes Meadow club were edged out 3-2 at Slough Town last Saturday.

Dene Whittal-Williams, Mark Benbow and Chris Cornes (2) then struck in a 4-0 win over Bromsgrove Rovers in the Red Insure Cup on Tuesday.

Striker Chris Mortlock has joined from Pegasus Juniors, making his debut against Rovers, and he will be in contention for the weekend.

But, despite their efforts in front of goal, chairman Chris Reynolds believes they still need to be more clinical.

He said: “We played so well against Slough and came away with nothing. But we have got to put our goals away and against Bromsgrove we did that.

“They have got a few problems off the field at the moment but they still had to be beaten.”
