MANAGER Richard Dryden has backed new striker Marc McGregor to be a hit for Worcester City.

McGregor crowned his debut for the club with the first goal in the 4-1 triumph over Weston-super-Mare at St George’s Lane.

Although he was replaced by Marco Adaggio with 25 minutes to go, Dryden has seen enough to believe he can supply the firepower to propel them up the league.

He said: “It was a great header and he could have had another 20 minutes later. He did well and I think you could see the difference when he came off because we kept giving the ball away.

“Hopefully he will get double figures here and I can’t see why not if we put balls in the right area. He wants to score goals.”

McGregor was joined on the scoresheet by Craig Wilding, Rob Elvins and Wayne Daniel as City leap-frogged the Seagulls to move up to 16th in Blue Square South.

Dryden said: “I was concerned the front two might not be quick enough but when they played like they did, with their link-up play, it doesn’t matter about the pace as long as the wide men and midfielders join in. It was a very nice performance for probably 75 minutes.

“It could have been a lot more and I think Andy Gurney (Weston manager) would agree.”
