WORCESTER Wanderers came away from their Midlands Intermediate Cup round two trip to Ludlow with an excellent 18-9 win.

The first-half was a fairly dull affair with the heavier home pack trying to impose themselves on the more mobile Wanderers eight.

However, Wanderers’ scrummage was up to the task and, as the half progressed, they took control of the set-piece and the breakdown.

Wanderers missed several kicks at goal and finished the first-half 6-3 down.

The second-half saw the Worcester side determined to play with width, taking play through several phases on many occasions. The uplift in pace and concentration gradually wore down the Ludlow resistance and gaps started to appear as Wanderers asserted themselves, scoring three unconverted tries.

Tom Mitchell claimed two with Kieran Morris adding the third. Ludlow slotted a penalty in reply.

Steve Lloyd had a fine cameo performance in what was likely to be his final game for the Wanderers.
