BILL Sheridan won his first medal competition at Boughton Park when he conquered difficult conditions.
Recording 78-9-69, Sheridan pushed Andy Widdowson (79-10-69) into second spot on countback.
Andy Abbot (75-6-69) finished in third place, also on countback, despite recording three birdies on the par three holes. Oliver Farr recorded the lowest gross of the day with 71.
Alan Courtney (84-13-71) won Division Two and also recorded the division’s lowest gross. Graham Hubbard (85-13-72) was second with George Turberfield (86-13-73) in third.
Alan Bradnock (88-19-69) won his first divisional medal, finishing one shot ahead of John Stott (92-22-70) in Division Three. Graham First finished third, recording the division’s lowest gross with 87-16-71.
Jack Holliday won the junior October medal on countback. Holliday recorded 84-18-66, just ahead of Jamie Hodges (73-7-66) with Simon Gerard-Jones (71-4-67) in third spot. Gerard-Jones recorded the lowest gross.
Neil Humphries won the seniors’ Maine Bowl, recording 43 stableford points, playing off a handicap of 22. Keith Morris (37) was second with John Matthews (35) third.
Sixteen-year-old Jack Humphreys is the new holder of the club’s prestigious Hallmark Trophy. The trophy is awarded to the player with the best four nett scores from 14 rounds of medal competition throughout the season.
Humphreys, who recently won the junior section’s Terry Band Shield and is in the final of the Club Cup, recorded nett rounds of 60, 66, 68 and 70 for a winning total of 264.
Humphreys, who plays off seven, finished six shots ahead of Gerard-Jones, who recorded 65, 69, 67 and 69 playing off four.
Richard Jones and Grenville Rose finished in joint third with 272. Gerard-Jones was again amongst the prizes when he finished top of the Eclectic Competition, where the players’ lowest gross score for each hole on the course is accumulated.
Gerard-Jones finished with a score of 51.0, followed by Allister Smith (54.50) and Andy Abbott (55).
Lee Richardson, who plays off -0.3, won the scratch medal by 12 shots. The award is made to the player with the best four gross scores from 14 medal competition rounds.
Richardson recorded 67, 70, 69 and 71 for a total of 277.
Gerard-Jones (289) and Jake Payne (291) were second and third respectively.
