HAVING boosted their coffers to the tune of £160,000 last season, Kidderminster Harriers’ chairman Barry Norgrove is looking for a repeat performance in this year’s FA Cup.

The Aggborough side reached the third round of last season’s competition before bowing out to a 2-0 defeat at Championship side Coventry City.

But, having scooped more than £60,000 in prize money as well as 40 per cent of all gate receipts in their four matches, Harriers manager Mark Yates was able to build a side that narrowly missed out on the Blue Square Premier play-offs.

With Blue Square North side Fleetwood Town heading to town today for a fourth qualifying round clash, Norgove is hoping for more cup magic to rub off on his side.

“We had a tremendous run in the cup last year and it generated a lot of money,” he said. “We made between £150,000 and £160,000 from it and it allowed us to buy players and mount a challenge on the play-offs.

“The cup is important for lots of reasons, it generates a lot of excitement and if we win then it opens the door to playing bigger clubs in the next round.

“There’s also the boost of making £12,500 if we beat Fleetwood, which is a lot of money for us.”
