WORCESTERSHIRE pupils dominated the Army West Midlands Schools Sevens on finals day at Stourbridge RFC.
Worcester’s Bishop Perowne College beat Warwickshire’s Kenilworth School 3-2 on tries in the boys’ final after topping their qualifying group.
The Merrimans Hill school beat Woodlands School from Coventry 3-1 in the semis.
The girls’ tag title went to the Chantry from Martley who beat Polesworth School from Warwickshire 7-5 in the final.
Chantry finished runners-up to Polesworth in their qualifying group but overturned the form book after beating Bishop Perowne 7-6 in a tight semi-final.
The girls’ contact tournament was won by Worcester’s Blessed Edward Oldcorne with William Brookes from Shropshire taking the development tournament.
The day marked an exciting end to the eighth year of the competition which involved more than 1,100 youngsters aged under 16 in 94 teams.
Other Worcestershire schools who reached the finals included Nunnery Wood, North Bromsgrove and The Chase from Malvern.
