MANAGER John Trewick has challenged his Hereford United side to continue the run of form which has seen them stretch their unbeaten sequence to five matches.

The Bulls have gone from strength to strength since beating League Two leaders Bournemouth 2-1 at Edgar Street on September 29.

They have since drawn with promotion hopefuls Dagenham and Redbridge and Rotherham as well as beating Chesterfield 1-0 through Ryan Valentine’s penalty last Saturday.

Consequently, Hereford go to West Yorkshire tomorrow (3pm) full of confidence to face a Bradford City side just two points better off in the table.

Trewick said: “We have hit a good level of consistency lately and the results have reflected that.

“If we can put in a similar level of performance against Bradford, we will have a decent result.

“I am pleased we have put this run together but it’s the old cliche — we have got to take one game at a time, give them our full attention and, if we do that, we will be OK.

“If we can hit those levels, then nine times out of 10 the result will look after itself.”

Bradford’s Valley Parade stadium boasts an average attendance of 11,426 — the largest in League Two — but Trewick believes that can work to Hereford’s advantage tomorrow.

He said: “The trouble is the stadium is so big it’s not going to look full.

“They sell a lot of season tickets at discount prices in the summer to get a decent-sized crowd.

“I think the big crowds can only help to be a motivating factor and I am hoping that’s the case with us.”

Defender Darren Jones is ruled out of the match with an ankle injury and he will be joined on the sidelines by midfielder Marc Pugh who has failed to recover from a calf complaint.

Young midfielder Craig Jones (back) and loan defender Darren Dennehy (ankle) are also expected to miss out.

However, striker Craig King is poised to continue up front after agreeing to extend his loan move from Leicester City until the end of the season.

Of the deal, the United boss said: “We wanted to do that and spoke to Nigel Pearson, the manager at Leicester.

“Fortunately, he felt it was a good idea for the lad as well and Craig is delighted to be staying.”

Swindon Town winger Mark Marshall has also extended his loan with Bulls and will stay for at least another month.

Peterborough United defender Danny Blanchett is set to remain with Hereford for another month as well.
