KIDDERMINSTER Harriers are intent on embarking on another lucrative FA Cup run.

The Aggborough club reached the third round of the competition last season, eventually losing 2-0 to Championship side Coventry at the Ricoh Arena.

That swelled their bank balance by around £150,000 and they would like nothing more than a repeat experience this season.

To do that they will have to negotiate a potentially tricky encounter against Blue Square North club Fleetwood Town in the fourth qualifying round tomorrow (3pm).

Fleetwood are currently third in the division below Harriers and have lost just once in their last nine matches in all competitions.

However, Mark Yates’ side have risen to seventh in the Blue Square Premier as they bid to secure a place in the play-offs.

Yates said: “We are looking forward to it. We are playing well at the moment, the players have got the bit between their teeth and know what it takes to play well and win matches.

“We have to treat it as just another game. It’s important we are in the draw for the next round but we could have had an easier opportunity.

“They are a side on the up and have got a very ambitious backer to assemble their squad.

“But we are at home and will give them the respect they deserve.

“We want a good cup run and the players will be focused, as they always are, and ready.

“We have got a new set of players this season and want to do ourselves proud.”

Big forward Robbie Matthews serves the second of a three-match ban but skipper and midfielder Chris McPhee could return as he continues to receive treatment on his injured ankle.

Harriers go into the match on the back of a 1-0 league win over Crawley, which followed the controversial 2-1 home defeat to high-flying Luton.

Yates added: “We didn’t play well against Luton in the second-half but I will excuse the lads that one. We have ironed that out and played really well against Crawley.

“We have played 17 league games so far and only been disappointing in two of them, which is not bad for a new team, and it’s good to see those players gel and understand what we are after.

“On the whole, we have played well. The players are working extremely hard and enjoying themselves.”
