A PAIR from Kidderminster GC have become the first from the Russell Road course to win the Kings Norton Gold Cup.
David Wiggins and Matt Houghton emerged victorious at the Birmingham club’s prestigious amateur tournament.
The pair were presented with gold medals to commemorate their win after finishing with a five-stroke lead.
Houghton, whose handicap is four, is the most capped player in the history of Worcestershire county golf, having represented the first team on more than 140 occasions.
Stourport resident Wiggins, who has a handicap of six, said: “It was brilliant to win this cup. The prize itself is reputed to be the original Cheltenham Gold Cup.”
