EX-Bromsgrove Rovers manager Duane Darby is believed to being lining up a bid for the troubled club.
They are more than £500,000 in debt and due to be placed in administration on Monday.
It is believed Rovers have a £40,000 offer on the table from consortium Bromsgrove Sporting Limited.
However, Darby is thought to be ready to make a last-minute move for the club.
Chairman Tom Herbert is ready to stand down after the administration hearing with the club owing him and his wife Sandra £240,000, £40,000 of which is owed to a pub they own in Kidderminster.
Creditors include HM Revenue and Customs (£64,000), All for One Engineering (£40,000), Coors Brewers (£26,000) and Bromsgrove District Council (£11,890).
Former director John Teece has issued Rovers with a winding-up order due to be heard a week tomorrow for £5,665.41 he says he is owed.
But if the petition for administration is successful, this will override the winding up order.
