STOURPORT men’s first team crashed to a 6-2 defeat in the English Hockey League Conference West at Fareham.
Despite taking a 2-0 lead with goals from Nick Duggan and Ali Raza in the opening 22 minutes, the south coast side hit back with strikes from James Seagar (2), Geoff Abbot, Shaun Baker, Alex Bennett and Ben Hibberd.
Stourport women’s firsts held on in a five-goal thriller to beat North Notts 3-2 in Division One of the Midlands League.
Jade Marshall-Walker fired Stourport into lead after they had the hosts under some early pressure.
Stourport remained strong and a second goal came quickly from Jodi Vincent, who later set up Erin Preece, after her reverse shot was deflected out to Preece who smashed it into the net. The second-half was a different story as North Notts quickly pulled one back befeore a penalty flick set up a tense finish, but Stourport managed to hold firm.
Stourport seconds fell to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Bridgnorth in Conference South.
The Shropshire side took the lead before Melissa Kennedy levelled to send the teams in level at the break.
Despite some fine work from player-of-the-match Sarah Taylor, Bridgnorth struck late on to snatch victory.
Kate Bailey struck a brace for the third team in their 3-2 victory at Bournville seconds. The win keeps them top of Worcestershire League Division Two. Jen Peniket fired Stourport into the lead before Bailey netted her two goals.
Teri Baron’s hat-trick inspired the fourths to a 5-0 demolition of Bournville thirds in Division Three.
Kathy Doyle and Caroline Wilson rounded off a superb performance.
