Worcester City manager Richard Dryden wants his side focused on continuing their FA Cup run against AFC Telford United.
City earned tonight’s replay at St George’s Lane (7.45) with an excellent defensive performance in Saturday’s 0-0 draw at the New Bucks Head.
The Blue Square South club are in the hat for today’s fourth qualifying round draw and will know their potential opponents before kick-off.
However, Dryden insists his players cannot be distracted from the challenge facing them in front of their own supporters. He said: “We have won the last two games at home, we’re still in the FA Cup and the support we got against Dover in our last league game was fantastic.
“From start to finish, the fans were great and we had superb support at Telford too.
“We didn’t play well there but dug in and got what we deserved with the replay. To get clapped off again was great.
“The players know how big the game is, those who have been in cup runs know how special it can be. It’s the first week for a long while when I haven’t worried about anything other than the FA Cup.
“It is a special cup, I don’t care what anybody says. We are in the hat but I don’t mind who we pull out.
“I don’t want any talk about it until after the Telford game.”
City have already swelled their bank balance following Saturday’s stalemate and tonight have the chance to add a £7,500 winners cheque.
Dryden said: “It’s massive and, if I was the chairman of Worcester City, I’d be jumping for joy because we’ve got 40 per cent of the gate at Telford and 40 per cent of our home gate. If we win it, we’ve had a bumper pay day.”
Dryden asked his players to take it easy over the weekend but could still make changes to the starting line-up and will be wary of putting too much stress on key defender Mark Clyde’s knee.
Forwards Marco Adaggio and Louis Bridges could also be in the frame after coming on as second-half substitutes at the weekend.
Dryden knows AFC Telford will be a threat tonight but believes his team have what it takes to progress to the next round.
The City manager added: “With how Telford played and how we played attacking-wise, they will probably think they’ll come and win the game because they kept the ball better than us.
“But I know on our day we can keep the ball and create a lot more chances than we did.
“It’s three clean sheets for us on the bounce. If you keep clean sheets, you have a chance of winning games.”
