THE month of September proved to be a milestone in Perdiswell Park Golf Club’s relatively brief history with the first two successes in external competitions.

Club captain Nathan Johnston and Paul Wiggett won the county captain and guest competition held at Kings Norton GC with 46 points in a betterball stableford round.

This triumph was followed by lady club captain Jane Nicklin and 10-year-old junior member Ella Crowley winning the Worcestershire Ladies Generation Gap competition, which was held at Droitwich.

The Bilford Road-based course also held its Daily Mail foursomes competition and the winners on the day were Tony Porter and John Davis with nett 64 and they will go forward to represent the club in the next round.

Runners-up were John Fogwill and Adrian Crowley, while third place went to Steve and John Boraston.

The ladies’ foursomes were won by Jaz Bishop and Pat Hill, who will go forward in the ladies competition.

Roger Richardson won the club’s mid-week stableford contest with a great round of 43 points — at the cost of two handicap strokes — followed by Dennis Morse on 41 points and Cyril Misters on 38.

In a mixed seniors match against Sherdons Golf Club, Perdiswell were narrowly beaten by one point after the match finished 5½-4½.

Round six of the weekend summer league was won by Steve Williams (43 points) followed by Misters (41). Second division prize-winner Collis Fisher (40) was third.

Jane Nicklin (36) triumphed in round six of the ladies’ summer league ahead of Phil Potts (32). Bishop was third with 30.

Morse also claimed round seven of the mid-week Presidents Trophy, beating Bernard Wood on countback after both finished with nett 66.
