RODNEY Ladies are having a blast after becoming the first female team to join the Lord Ednam Air Rifle League.
Shooting from the Admiral Rodney at Martley, Wendy Davies’ team are slowly but surely finding their target.
The aim for the women now is to secure their first victory in the league.
“The men have been really helpful since we joined up,” skipper Davies said.
“They have been giving us plenty of tips and we are improving all the time.”
Made up of 15 members, Rodney Ladies have gone from scoring 146 in their first match to 190.
Only four of the squad had held a gun before they started in the league this year.
“We decided to form a team after the league’s annual general meeting,” Davies said. “I noticed there were no ladies’ teams at all so decided that it would be a good idea to form one and we are all really enjoying it.”
Despite it being a women’s team, they have one male in the squad in Steve Colley. The honorary ‘woman’ is the team’s safety officer and loader.
