WESTFIELDS produced a superb, hard-working display to force an FA Vase third round replay at allpay.park tomorrow night (7.45).
The Hereford side held Midland Alliance rivals Stratford Town 1-1 after extra-time in the battle for a last-32 place.
Fields defended in the opening 20 minutes as Stratford opened at a cracking pace.
Keeper Gareth Williams saved at full stretch to deny former Birmingham City striker Paul Devlin.
Then Scott Jackson headed Nicky Love’s header off the goal line before Jon Hill too cleared a goalbound shot.
Fields lost midfielder Ashley Day with a groin strain but they battled back and Jamie Cuss fired wide five minutes before the break.
However, just before the interval, Stratford were gifted an opener when a harmless cross from Joszef Jakob was headed into his own net by Fields skipper Jackson.
After the break, Fields’ Mark Davis saw his header cleared off the line.
The pressure paid off when in the 75th minute the visitors drew level.
Cuss, who earlier missed a great chance from six yards, linked up well with Davis to create an opening for Daniel Hill, who smashed home a tremendous equaliser from the edge of the area.
This set up a nail-biting final 15 minutes when both defences worked over-time.
In extra-time, sub Terry Green made a superb tackle to prevent Devlin as he ran through, while Davis’ header was kept out at the other end.
Meanwhile, Pegasus Juniors lost 3-0 in their first visit to Reading Town in the Hellenic League Premier Division.
