WORCESTER Wolves’ disappointing record of never having won in Glasgow, the home of Scottish Rocks, continued as they slumped to defeat.
In the opening play, Wolves player-coach Skouson Harker thundered to the basket with the intention of emphatically dunking on any Rocks player foolhardy enough to stand in his way.
But his throwdown slammed into the basket surround instead of through the hoop.
This set the tone for what was to follow for Wolves as shot after shot and pass after pass went astray.
The deficit stood at 13-21 at the end of the first quarter. By half-time, it had already doubled to 35-51. To compound Wolves’ woes, playmaker Will Funn accumulated four fouls, forcing him to the bench.
In the second-half, Worcester still had no answer to Rocks’ mercurial point guard Rob Yanders with 26 points.
The advantage peaked at 68-44 with three minutes remaining in the third quarter.
By the end of the period, Wolves pulled matters back to 70-54 as forward Anthony Paez finally began to shine. In the final quarter, Wolves fleetingly threatened a fightback of sorts, drawing back to 77-65 with five minutes to go.
However, the brief revival was efficiently snuffed out by top-of-the-table Rocks although Wolves scored 10 out of the last 11 points to give the scoreline respectability.
Their top scorers were Harker with 21 points followed by centre Justin Brown with 17.
