SKOUSON Harker believes Worcester Wolves are a completely different proposition as they head to British Basketball League leaders Scottish Rocks tomorrow (5pm).

Wolves lost 92-77 at home to Rocks at the start of October as Blake Shelton starred with 22 points.

But the high-scoring University of Worcester side have improved to joint sixth in the table with Anthony Paez’s return and the form of point-guard Will Funn firing them.

So Rocks, who went top with a 90-85 victory at basement side PAWS London Capitals last Saturday, do not expect a comfortable game at Kelvin Halls, Glasgow.

Harker said: “We are a completely different ball team to last time so I have not looked at our performance then as it is irrelevant.”

He singled out Rob Yanders, the Molten player-of-the-month for November, as Rocks’ key man.

Harker continued: “He will lead from the point and they will be ready. We match up very well now as last game they had mis-matches all over the court.

“Rob makes them go. They are in good form right now and hungry for more. We will force the tempo though and take it to them.

“I will challenge our point guard Will to be the best he has been yet. I think this will be an interesting match-up as Will is settling in and finding his form in the BBL.

“Along with Yanders, Sterling Davis and Shelton are as good as any three-man combination in the BBL.

“That being said, I feel our main players are playing well too. So it should be a good ball game.”

When asked if there was extra pressure on his team now they are top, Rocks’ player-coach Davis said: “No, I don’t think so. We try not to get caught up on the standings and worry more about ourselves and how we are playing.

“We know, as a team, we have some work to do and want to keep our focus from game to game and the rest will handle itself. It’s a long season.

“Wolves are another team that play extremely hard and have different guys who can step up and lead in any game. They are hungry and want to improve, which they have.

“I would have to say their whole starting five are big contributors. Justin Brown is a big presence inside, Harker is just a hard-nosed guy and, with Paez back, they really pose a threat from the perimeter.

“I thought, the first time we played them, we played extremely well defensively. It was our first game of the season so everyone’s adrenaline was going off that alone.

“I think that same intensity will be necessary if we want the same result as the first meeting.”
