WORCESTER City are aiming to put November behind them and treat December as a clean slate.
Richard Dryden’s team managed just one victory from five fixtures last month, which saw them slip down the Blue Square South table and crash out of the FA Trophy.
However, the performance in the 1-0 defeat against Chelmsford last Saturday pleased the manager and City are looking to build on that at St Albans on Saturday (3pm).
The Clarence Park clash will be the second meeting between the sides this season and Worcester have targeted the double after winning 2-0 at St George’s Lane on August 11.
Dryden said: “It would be great to do a double because they have just come off a good run when they lost to Braintree last weekend.
“We know what they are all about and it’s quite nice to play sides for a second time.
“I can’t wait for the game as I took a lot of heart from Saturday’s performance.”
The match is also a chance for City to resurrect the early-season away form and put the current off-field wranglings to the back of their minds.
Despite new blood being voted to the board at the annual general meeting, there is little sign of an end to the saga following the resignations of two directors today.
However, Dryden has continually stated the situation is not affecting players and they only have themselves to blame for recent results.
He said: “The players have been trying to be as professional as they can and keep the situation at arm’s length but we are making no excuses for the past month’s performances. It’s up to us to get back on track.
“We were good in October and it was like we hit a brick wall in November.
“It’s the start of a new month and we need to kick on and move up the table.”
Before losing to Braintree last Saturday, St Albans had avoided defeat in their previous eight Blue Square South fixtures.
Dryden is yet to decide whether he will persist with the 3-5-2 formation employed against Chelmsford.
He said: “We might change it around a bit and try to stop their full-backs from coming out.
“If we change the formation, one or two players might miss out.”
That suggests the 4-3-3 system City used to great effect in the 2-1 victory at Hampton and Richmond could come into effect.
On that occasion, Matt Dinsmore was drafted in as a third forward alongside Marco Adaggio and Craig Wilding.
Dinsmore, like Wilding, is still carrying a groin injury, while Rob Davies, who scored the winner at Hampton, is struggling with a hip problem.
Dryden may also have to choose between centre-halves Jon Richardson, Ollie Barnes and new recruit Tom Kemp.
