WORCESTER Women finished the 2008 Midlands Premier Division programme with a 4-0 win over newcomers Harborne.

They will resume the season next year on a high after goals from Libby Hayes, Julie Harwood, Charlotte Roberts and Hattie Lloyd.

Worcester’s first arrived in the 27th minute when Hayes fired in a narrow angled shot.

After the break, Harwoodmade it 2-0 and Worcester sealed their victory with a well-taken shot by Roberts.

The city side dominated the midfield and Lloyd fired in her first goal of the season late on.

The seconds went down 2-1 at Bournville in Worcestershire League Division One.

Bournville scored two early goals but Worcester worked well to prevent any more.

They started the second-half positively and Hannah Edwards worked tirelessly for a great consolation goal.

Worcester’s player-of-the-match was Kat Martin in another good display.

Pippa Lewis gave Worcester Thirds an early lead but they lost 2-1 to Old Silhillians.

Player-of-the-match Lewis netted from a short corner after four minutes and they continued to create opportunities.

High balls caused injuries to Worcester players on three occasions which caused unrest and Sills levelled on 28 minutes.

They added a second quickly after half-time but Worcester settled again and hit the post on more than one occasion.

Worcester Girls Under 18s defeated inexperienced Edgbaston 5-2 in the English Hockey National Plate.

After several good saves from the Edgbaston keeper, Worcester went ahead through Sam Sellick’s well-directed shot on 25 minutes.

Immi Whelan buried a great shot moments later and Philly Roberts drove through to strike home from the edge of the circle just before half-time.

Worcester slackened to allow Edgbaston back into the game with two goals.

But determined play from Lydia Harper, Becky Donnelly and Roberts closed down further attacks.

Whelan made it four from a short corner after a goalmouth scramble and Harper fired in from a short-corner move.

A young but experienced Worcester Badgers Potters side were slow to get started in a 2-2 draw at Redditch.

The visitors went a goal down in the first quarter but excellent team-work resulted in two fine goals from Hal Bartlett and Alex Wagner.

Redditch levelled by half-time and then were denied by keeper Brindly Jones although Worcester missed a penalty stroke.

The Badgers Pippins and Stourport match was changed to an under 15s game.

Stourport started strongly and scored the only two goals from short-corner routines.

Worcester Boys Under 15s lost 4-1 to Sutton Coldfield in the English Hockey National Plate Cup.

Sutton were on top in the first-half and opened the scoring on seven minutes before adding another.

After the break, Worcester pulled one back with a superb solo goal from Chris Pedrick.

Against the run of play, Sutton scored their third goal and sealed a good win late on.
