EVESHAM improved their promotion credentials with a 3-2 win at county rivals Bromsgrove in BodyKraft West Midlands Hockey League Division One.
The Vale side completely dominated but it took a last-gasp penalty stroke to secure a well-earned victory.
During the game, Evesham came across a keeper in outstanding form and saw three shots cleared off the line.
The visitors took control through Stuart Harris and Simon Bostock in midfield, while Adrian Betts and Martin Husbands combined well in attack.
Husbands put them ahead from the spot after a defender illegally stopped the ball.
Bromsgrove quickly levelled from a counter-attack but Evesham sub Stuart Bearcroft made a quick impact with their second goal after combining with Ben Brown.
The hosts hit back on the break to level again by the interval with only their second shot.
Evesham were on top yet to had to wait until the final two minutes when Husbands nettted a penalty stroke after another illegal stop on the line.
