WORCESTER Wolves will be looking to build on their impressive 97-93 British Basketball League win over Plymouth Raiders when they travel to face championship leaders Scottish Rocks on Sunday.
Wolves player-coach Skouson Harker was delighted after his side returned victorious from Devon — completing the set of triumphs over all of the BBL teams.
Despite 33 points from Raiders’ guard Drew Lasker, Wolves took the points against a side who were celebrating reaching the BBL Cup final.
“It was a great win,” said 29-year-old Canadian Harker.
“Any time you win a game and are out-shot on the free-throw line 29 attempts to 11, you are doing something right.
“We attacked the rim all night like we always do and we were able to convert when we needed to most.”
While Harry Disy and Anthony Paez led the Wolves with 22 and 20 points respectively, Harker refused to single anyone out for praise.
He said: “Our entire team stepped up.
“We had a couple guys not well all week and not 100 per cent fit so to take a hit at Sheffield then go down there and play our game and get the win was pleasing.”
Despite the Plymouth success, Harker is keeping his feet firmly on the floor. He added: “We slipped up against Lions and Sharks and, to be totally honest, 2-2 in the four games over eight days was not good enough for the team we put out on the floor each night.
“To say I am disapointed about those two losses would be an understatement.
“The performance against Sheffield was our worst ball game of the season and it will be one we want to use as motivation.
“We did not play with any heart or desire. Guys on our team stood and watched on numerous attempts to take charges or make a defensive play.
“We have addressed it, our guys know it will no longer be tolerated as, if you show up to coast in the BBL, you are going to get your butt kicked!”
Wolves’ next home game is on Wednesday, December 17 when they host Everton Tigers, tip-off at 7pm.
