NORTH Midlands Under 16s ended their season on a high with a 15-12 win over Staffordshire at Bromsgrove’s Finstall Park ground.
North Mids scored tries through hooker Tom Griffiths and flanker Sam Jones, both from Bishop of Hereford’s Bluecoat School and Herefordshire.
The under 19s suffered a 22-12 defeat against old rivals Yorkshire at Pontefract.
Just three points divided the sides until Yorkshire scored the winning try late in the second-half. The under 19s ended the season with a record of played three, won two, lost one, having completed two wins over Warwickshire last month to retain the Sable’s Head Trophy.
The majority of the under 19s squad will now move up to under 20s level.
North Mids under 20s begin their preparations for the National Championships with a friendly against Gloucestershire at Coney Hill on Sunday (2.15pm).
