DROITWICH suffered another Midlands Three West (South) defeat when they travelled to Leamington, falling to a 28-10 deficit.

Again the Spa side didn’t play to their potential and made too many errors to seriously threaten to win the game.

The home side started brightly, pressurising the Droitwich line, and a long pass saw them score a converted try.

The pressure was compounded further when a number of missed tackles saw the lead doubled. The visitors had some serious thinking to do at half-time and they started the second period much more brightly. Steve Poke produced a good run to link with Nick Godfrey to surge forward and he was tackled short of the line, but Leamington infringed, allowing Matt Blackmore to reduce the arrears with a well-struck penalty.

Good work by Matt Jupp and Dean Goddard saw Droitwich go forward, but they were unable to turn pressure into points.

A poor clearance put the visitors under pressure and Leamington effectively sealed the game with another try.

The visitors did come back strongly with Phil Horton forcing his way over for a score, but it was all too late. In the final seconds, with Droitwich throwing caution to the wind, Leamington managed to sneak over for another try.
