PEGASUS Juniors continued their fine run with a 2-0 win over fourth-placed Ardley United in the Hellenic League Premier Division.
Two goals inside four minutes mid-way through the second-half secured the points for the Hereford side in a game that could have gone either way. Four victories from five games have moved Pegasus up to 11th in the table.
The visitors started strongly and should have taken the lead but Andrew Stidder’s shot was cleared off the line by Bobby Aldrich. Rob Laurie and Simon Gwynne forced fine saves from keeper Gareth Tucker at the other end.
Pegasus’ Stuart Turpin denied Murray Nicholls but the hosts went ahead on 63 minutes. After Turpin’s save from Stidder, Pegasus cleared the corner and Chris Mortlock flicked the ball over his marker and finished well.
Three minutes later, Pegasus increased the lead as David Hart charged down the keeper and the ball rebounded in off his backside.
Pegasus host Almondsbury Town tomorrow night (7.30).
