Brackley Town 0, Evesham United 0 (abandoned after 45 minutes, floodlight failure)
A FLOODLIGHT failure forced the abandonment of this afternoon's goalless clash at St James' Park.
The lights went out on a match that really needed some illumination after 34 minutes and the problem couldn't be fixed during the interval.
It was 19 minutes before there was an attempt on goal with the Robins, missing Mark Owen who had moved to Stourport Swifts 24 hours earlier, looking to extend their fabulous defensive record that had seen then not concede a goal in 422 minutes.
Town's John Gardner saw a first shot in anger deflected over the crossbar, while United's first effort saw Joe Clarke shoot wide.
Ben Mackey then missed his kick eight yards out as the visiting defence was caught out at a corner, while Steve Luckett headed straight at Richard Knight from Troy Wood's 29th minute chipped cross.
The lights failed five minutes later before Clarke hit a half-volley a foot too high and Dean Cracknell's similar strike after 40 minutes was diverted for a corner.
The referee gave the hosts half-an-hour to fix the problem but the lights stayed off and the two sides must meet again in the new year.
