KIDDERMINSTER Harriers chairman Barry Norgrove is hoping that his side won’t be counting the cost of a humiliating FA Cup defeat tomorrow afternoon.
The cash-strapped club stand to pocket £30,000 should they do what is expected of them when they entertain Unibond Division One North side Curzon Ashton, a team four levels below Harriers, at Aggborough (3pm).
With money so tight at the Blue Square Premier club, that cash would be a welcome boost for the chairman.
“It’s hard to say what our next step is before the game but, obviously, winning would make a big difference,” Norgrove said.
“It’s very hard at the moment because money is tight and we have to pay the bills — that is why it is important we get past Curzon.
“We can’t budget for the FA Cup or Trophy so all this money is an extra bonus.”
Harriers have already pocketed £32,500 from their two cup victories — against King’s Lynn and Cambridge United — this term.
Apart from the £30,000 that would boost the Aggborough coffers, there would also be a place in the third round and the chance to draw one of the Barclays Premier League big boys.
The draw for the next round of the cup will be held at 2.15pm on Sunday on ITV1 and Setenta Sports News —Harriers, should they avoid defeat, will be number 63.
