ENGLAND Women kicked-off the Dubai Exiles Rugby 7s at a blistering pace and in turn booked their place in tomorrow's quarter-finals.
The England Sporting Chance Foundation side recorded a 39-0 win over Aylesford Bulls and then an impressive 34-7 victory over the USA in the pool games.
In total England ran in 14 tries, with Richmond's Alice Richardson topping the scoring list with three touchdowns, while Worcester's Jo Hubbleday (nee Yapp) scored twice.
England now has one more pool fixture to play against a Wooden Spoon side on Friday, comprising of several international players, before contesting the quarterfinals on Friday also.
The Dubai 7s is England's first test of the new season and acts as a vital warm-up tournament ahead of the 2009 iRB inaugural Women's Rugby World Cup 7s, in March in Dubai also.
England head into this season on the back of a highly successful year in 2008, which saw them record a clean sweep of wins in the Amsterdam 7s, the London Emirates Airline 7s, the Home Nations Cup and the European 7s.
