BROMSGROVE Rovers chairman Tom Herbert hopes attentions will be turned back to the football pitch after declaring the proposed merger with rivals Redditch United is “dead in the water”.
Herbert has put supporters’ minds at rest by issuing a statement, stating Rovers would not be progressing with the merger.
The main sticking point over a possible deal was the likelihood that the club would have to change their name which was something Herbert insisted he did not want to happen.
He said: “I didn’t want to change the name because of the fans. All I can say to the fans is forget about Redditch and concentrate on supporting the Rovers.
“I know that it has been a tough time with the players not performing but we are concentrating on winning.”
