WORCESTER City ABC light-welterweight Daniel Davies knocked out Tamworth’s Luke Harvey at Drayton Manor.
With both boxers taking part in their first contest, they wasted no time getting stuck into each other.
Davies was guilty of neglecting his defence in the pursuit of throwing big hooks to the head of the Tamworth boy.
Harvey kept a classic upright stance, pumping out straight punches against the attacking Davies.
In the final stages of round one, both boxers stood toe to toe exchanging heavy punches.
During this battle, Davies’ headguard came loose and he had to return to his corner to have it refitted.
He was instructed by his corner that only 10 seconds were left to which he launched a terrific right hand to the chin of Harvey, dropping him with immediate effect.
He managed to get to his feet at the count of seven but the referee had no hesitation in stopping the bout.
Davies was delighted with a perfect start to his boxing career.
