BROMYARD triumphed 11-5 against higher-graded Dudley Wasps to progress from round four Midlands of the EDF Energy Junior Vase.

A large crowd were treated to an assured exhibition from a Bromyard side improving each game and included an impressive performance from young John Manning at centre, making his first start for the club.

The home side opened the scoring after fly-half Ainslie Ralph broke through Dudley’s defence and launched strong-running inside-centre Dan Goodson, who finished off with a try.

Dudley soon levelled the scores with a long-range breakaway try, but it was Bromyard who had the better of the exchanges in the first-half with hard-tackling flankers Will Tomkins and skipper Gareth Griffiths much to the fore.

Bromyard continued to dominate in the second-half and made their territorial advantage count with two well-taken penalties by Ralph.

Scrum-half Jamie Fowler turned in another commanding performance directing an excellent display from his forwards. Bromyard travel to Chaddesley Corbett in Midlands Six West (South-west) on Saturday for a rearranged fixture with the chance to go two points clear at the top of the table.
