THE Robins extended their unbeaten league record to seven matches with a steely show against the Steelmen.
Paul West’s side were shaky in the early stages when errors by Joe Clarke and Steve Luckett handed Ollie Burgess chances, but the Town player saw his first effort kept out by a combination of crossbar and Nathan Vaughan, who then blocked his second chance well.
Dean Brennan’s 11th minute free-kick shaved the bar before the visitors created two chances. First Mark Owen pulled the ball back for Troy Wood to see his goal-bound strike from 10 yards blocked.
Wood found himself in the clear nine minutes later, but allowed Marc Warren to get in a tackle as the on loan striker delayed his shot.
The division’s top scorer, Stephen Diggin, skipped past Vaughan only to see his shot from a tight angle find the side-netting.
Vaughan pushed aside a shot from the same player two minutes after the re-start, while Danny Scheppel’s cross landed on top of the net.
United had another escape in the 66th minute as former Redditch player James Blake was perfectly positioned on his Evesham bow to clear Warren’s shot off the line. Four minutes later, the frame of the goal was struck for a third time when Brennan met Diggin’s centre.
Substitute Allando Davis raced clear 17 minutes from time but dragged a shot wide with Mark Owen unmarked in front of goal.
Steve Luckett saw a header saved by Mark Osborn before West’s men had another let-off in injury-time when Danny Hodnett appeared to foul Lee Hildreth in the 18-yard area.
