STRIKER Steve Guinan says it is time for Hereford United to produce match-winning performances on a regular basis in League One.

Guinan scored twice in a 3-0 victory over former club Cheltenham Town last Saturday to lift the Bulls away from the bottom of the table.

Northampton visit Edgar Street this afternoon with Hereford looking to record back-to-back league victories for the first time this season.

Although Graham Turner’s side lost to Dagenham and Redbridge in their FA Cup first round replay on Tuesday, Guinan is confident the team is good enough to escape the clutches of relegation.

He said: “Among the players we know we are good enough to get out of it but it’s time for us to start showing it on a Saturday. I think we have got enough ability in the squad.

“Even the games we have lost, the majority we have only lost by the odd goal. Apart from a couple of games, we haven’t been outplayed.

“Teams like Northampton at home are the teams we need to be taking three points off.”

The 33-year-old will also be hoping to continue his goal-scoring exploits of last weekend against a side without a win since October 18.

“It was nice to get a couple of goals at home, my only other one was a consolation in a 6-1 drubbing (against Bristol Rovers),” he said.
