UNBEATEN Pavilion Players consolidated their lead at the top of Worcester Table Tennis League Division One.
Players whitewashed Joskeroge 10-0 with Stephane Bonnafous, Margaret Dignum and Linda Reid all triumphing although many of the games were tight.
The matches were also close as YMCA Falcons lost 10-0 to Rainbow with Trevor Simmons, Dave Woodyatt and Pete Griffiths embarrassing their rivals.
Himbleton ‘C’ picked up a first point of the season in losing 7-3 to their ‘A’ team. Adam Throssell took all three matches for the ‘C’ team but two each for Dave Rothero, John Rowe and Ray Rennison, plus the doubles, won the day.
In Division Two, WGCC beat Dukes Way 7-3 with Graham Meredith recording three easy singles wins.
Charlie Burford ensured his team came away with a point in beating Paddy Mullen and David Stevens and combining with Jackie Chow to take the doubles in the deciding set.
YMCA Kites’ and YMCA Enigma’s respective number ones Dave Williams and John Cawthra each won their first two singles games.
Alan Spink and Cawthra beat Ray Griffiths and Paul Smith in the doubles and Lisa Lang increased Enigma’s lead to 5-3.
Spink then went down to Griffiths and, with Williams beating Cawthra in the finale, the match ended 5-5.
St Martin’s consolidated their top-of-the-table position with a 10-0 win against Strensham. Dave Watton and Simon Gibson were undefeated in the singles and doubles.
But Tony Harding, being 2-1 down to Paul Davies, pulled out all the stops to win the remaining two sets and preserve his team’s clean sheet. Second-placed Broadheath Belters defeated Love City Groove 8-2.
Peter Stevens easily won his three singles for Belters but Peter Roberts and Richard Bates both succumbed to newcomer Chris Jones.
Nemesis maintained their unbeaten run in beating YMCA Elizabethans 8-2 with Richard Cullis and Don James winning three singles.
For Elizabethans, Dean Lewis just got home in the deciding set against Bill Smith and was successful in the doubles with Brian Ovington.
