THE planning application for Worcester City’s proposed new stadium at Nunnery Way is being submitted.
It will be handed jointly to Worcester City Council by the St George’s Lane club and developers St Modwen tomorrow.
St Modwen own the 20-acre site, between junctions six and seven of the M5, and plan to build a new ground for the Blue Square South club as part of a £30m developmemt.
David Hallmark, one of the club’s new directors who will be standing for election at Friday’s annual general meeting, said: “This is wonderful news for the club, its supporters and the city and marks the culmination of years of hard work and effort.
“With the new board now in place and the application for the new stadium submitted there is a real sense of optimism about the future of this historic club.”
The news comes just 24 hours before City host AFC Wimbledon in a crucial FA Trophy clash.
