WORCESTER Warriors development side produced a fine performance to beat Cambridge University 31-3 at Grange Road.

Cambridge featured a side containing many players looking for varsity honours but it was Warriors who were always in control as they stormed to victory.

Greg King, Charlie Fellows and Shaun Ruwers were all on the scoresheet for Warriors, while Joe Carlisle produced an impressive display with ball in hand and with the boot.

The team was led superbly by flanker Jake Abbott who was named man-of-the-match.

“It was a great all-round display by the team,” said Gary Meechan, academy assistant manager.

“We were back up to strength as a development squad including a number of players such as Graham Kitchener, Matt Cox, Alex Grove and Charlie Fellows who have experienced first team rugby. Having them back into the line-up made a difference in comparison to the side we were able to field against Oxford.

“It was a fantastic performance from the entire 22-man squad. We played some very good rugby and we met the physical challenge that they offered head on.

“We now look to carry in that form when we travel to Henley Hawks and Dry Leas on Monday, November 24 for our final game for the festive period.”
