REIGNING Worcester Sunday League Premier Division champions Kempsey’s bid for this year’s title appears to be in tatters after a shock 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Callow End.
Sean Castle and Adam Spencer were on target for the visitors and Kempsey have already suffered three defeats, one more than in 2007-08.
Current leaders Perrywood also went down, 3-2 at Martley Spurs. Luke Willetts (2) and Chris Collins gave Spurs a 3-0 lead before Anthony Burton and Adam Pritchard pulled back late goals for Wood.
However the other main title contenders Arrow 2000 made no mistake, hammering Perowne Park Rangers 7-2.
Their goals came from Stuart Fassnidge, Mike Hartshorn, Lee Seldon, Luke Corbett, Gordie Beauchamp, Darren Cox and Scott Pinches. Dean Barmby and Darren Cox netted for Rangers.
In Division One, Shane Smith scored twice in AFC Mazak’s 4-0 win at Droitwich RBL.
A single strike from Nathan Henton gave Malvern Radar victory at Upton Town.
Eighteen matches fell victim to waterlogged pitches, including all in Division Two.
In Division Three, veteran Connor Normoyle cracked a hat-trick for Cutnall Green, who crushed Villagers 6-2. Wychbold RBL Reserves thrashed Old Cock 8-0 in Division Four with goals from Adie Crowther (2), Jim Campbell, Tom Ainge, Carl Parsons, Greg Hewlett and Sean Cairnes.
Red Horse are through to the Worcester Nursing Sunday Junior Cup semi-finals.
Tim Beattie and Matthew Layton bagged braces in their 4-0 victory over Westbury Celtic Reserves.
