TERRY Jenkins needs a victory tonight in the PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts when he faces the unbeaten Wes Newton.
The Bull, from Ledbury, is second in Group ‘F’ after beating Colin Lloyd 5-3 at the Wolverhampton Civic Centre, following his 5-4 defeat to American qualifier Darin Young.
The world number five needs a win over Newton to ensure his passage into the next stage of the £100,000 competition.
Jenkins, however, can still qualify should Lloyd beat Young and fail to make up the four leg difference.
The Herefordshire thrower is currently plus one in leg difference, while Lloyd is minus three, however, if Young wins and Jenkins loses then the American goes through.
The Ledbury ace was delighted with his victory over Lloyd.
“I hit three 180s at crucial times and it kept me in the game,” said Jenkins.
“There was a lot of pressure on both of us and it showed, but I’ve got control of my own destiny now.
“It is going to be hard. I’m playing well, but just can’t seem to win.
“It’s frustrating, but I’ll keep trying and hopefully I can get back winning.”
