UPTON-upon-Severn went joint top of Midlands Four West (South) with a 33-3 win at King’s Norton.

Dunlop beat Worcester Wanderers 25-7 which allowed Upton to be level with both teams and Bedworth on points.

Playing with a strong breeze in the first-half, Upton struggled to play positively in the difficult conditions.

Fly-half Dan Keyte missed two long-range penalties but his deft chip with 10 minutes left of the half allowed Alex Pimlow to race through and score under the posts.

Keyte converted and Upton then looked to instill more control.

Matt Jefferys caught the restart and charged into the defensive line.

Upton burrowed forward and successive rucks on the line led to Rob Heeley popping the ball up for Russell Price to barge over on the blindside.

In the second period, Norton’s only foray into the Upton 22 resulted in three points from a penalty.

At the other end, Upton produced a half of straight-line running which was rewarded by three tries.

Pimlow ghosted in for the first after wing Will Carr spread the ball.

Keyte, Price and Matt Bookham were then involved in a fine move for centre Richard Mills to score.

The final try saw Keyte produce a dummy, hand-off and side-step to stroll in under the posts.
